Sufficient condition

A state or circumstance S is said to be sufficient for the event or state E if the occurrence of S and the absence of E is impossible, either logically or empirically. If the former, S is said to be a logically sufficient condition for E; if the latter, S is an empirically sufficient condition for E. See also necessary condition, and cause.
