Scope

The scope defines the boundaries of a project or program in terms of timelines, range of services, etc. Scope creep (a.k.a., mission creep), a term of derision by project staff, occurs-all too often-when the funding agency (usually, but it may be the project manager or staff or recipients) increases the scope without increasing the funding or the timeline. Of course, it is justified by the claim, which is sometimes even a belief, that these 'small' adjustments won't really require any change in the contract; or by an appeal to political urgency or irrationality.
