Posttest

A test taken after an innovation or variation has been applied, to see if there are gains compared with the scores on the pretest. The difference between the test scores for an individual, if it is positive, is called the (raw) gain score. Various corrections have to be applied to obtain a good measure of the true gain due to the intervention, and these are sophisticated enough to lead some measurement experts to recommend against using pretest/posttest designs to measure the effects of teaching; but this is an overreaction.
