Normative

Usually of behavior, meaning 'conforming to the norm' that is, to the accepted standard of behavior. Use has been extended to include prescriptive assertions or recommendations, i.e., those that may assert a pattern of behavior as proper, ideal, ethical, fashionable-in short, one to which conformity is recommended rather than referenced. The extension was fueled by the fallacious assumption that the only real content of recommendations or evaluative judgments in general was 'consistency with accepted norms of the community' i.e., the assumption of moral or, in general, evaluative relativism.
