Monitor

From EvaluationWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

To watch over and/or regularly check something, typically a program or organization, in order to determine whether it is staying within acceptable bounds on e.g., safety or promised treatment, or hitting its milestones on progress, expenditure, record-keeping and other aspects of accountability. Different from evaluation in that it is usually more frequent and less analytical (meaning that it accepts rather than questions indicators, needs for the program, and other fundamental issues that an evaluator must address). Commonly done on a regular, public, schedule and of course less valid for those two reasons.
