The rules governing intelligible discourse, e.g., the avoidance of contradictions, non sequiturs, fallacies, false assumptions. These are not language-specific but universal-it doesn't matter whether you're speaking Swahili or N'gong, you don't want to contradict yourself other than when deliberately using an oxymoron ("Well, I could say that it's raining and not raining.")
