A term sometimes used generically, to refer to any indigenous people, but also used specifically for the Australian indigenous peoples, and occasionally elsewhere in an analogous way. The connotations vary with the country, so the term should be used cautiously at first by evaluators in any new context, particularly since the connotations of 'evaluation' are also highly variable and often unfavorable.
